Is it correct that this switch is also set so that it can take over the IP allocation (DHCP) in the home network? Consequently, my UPC Connect modem would have to be changed so that there are not two DHCP servers running.

Not that I know of, as far as I know it would need an additional Unifi Security Gateway or your UPC device would take care of it. What the switch can do well, however, is supply end devices such as APs with POE.
