Is the connection via the power supply unit mandatory or is it possible to install an existing power cable (for the current wired camera), which has been specially pulled out with the cam?

The camera requires the mains adapter supplied.

The camera is operated with the external power adapter. This is mandatory. However, you can fit a plug with the existing power cable and then plug in the power adapter for the camera. This is how I did it.
