Is this combination compatible ? or more generally, are motherboards (AM5) for Ryzen 7th Gen compatible with 6th Gen Ryzen CPUs ? Gigabyte B650 GAMING X AX (AM5, Ryzen 7th Gen) AMD Ryzen 5 7600x (AM5, Ryzen 5 6th Gen) The motherboard website says it supports 7th Gen. https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B650-GAMING-X-AX-rev-10-11#kf What about 6th Gen?

You seem to have got things mixed up. There is no 6th gen ryzen on the desktop. So all cpus with am5 sockets are compatible. The R5 7600x is also 7th gen and therefore compatible. I would, however, advise you to go for the 7600 as it is hardly more lame and cheaper.
