Just bought (Feb2019). No, it is not code-free! It even says country code 2 on the box, which can't be deleted, I tried without success.
Until recently it was advertised as such here at Digitec. They probably took it out now after we contacted customer service.
They then confirmed that it is not code-free. Apologies, offer to take it back - no response. We are sending it back!
