Maybe a stupid question, but I don't know much about it. If I plug this module into my switch, do I also have to have such a module on the receiver device? Or can I connect the 10g port there directly?

If you plug this module into your switch, you do not necessarily need the same module on the receiving device. You can also connect a 10G port there directly with a suitable RJ45 cable, as the module is an SFP+ to copper (RJ45) adapter and communicates via standard Ethernet cables. The module converts the SFP+ signal into a copper Ethernet signal that can be connected directly to a normal 10G RJ45 port.
