Question about SANDISK Extreme PRO Portable

Now (May 2023) it is reported on the Leica Forum that there are sudden data losses and failures. A firmware update is planned but it is unclear when. However, how to get to it and how to install it is completely unclear. I wonder if my data is safe on it.

Helpful answer

I've had no problems with mine, but it was manufactured in 2021, and according to the ArsTechnica article, the problem seems to only occurring with units from November 2022 or later. If I had one of these later units I would not rely on it as my only backup until there's more clarity.
