Question about FRITZ! Box 6850 LTE

We have very poor network reception in one of the rooms in our flat, so it's almost impossible to make mobile calls there. I would now like to improve the reception by installing an LTE/GSM antenna outside the window and routing the cables into the room. The cables (with SMA plugs) must then be connected to an LTE receiver in the room via an SMA plug. I would only use the receiver to have better mobile phone reception for making calls. I don't need WLAN or other functions, and I don't want an additional SIM card. My question: Would this Fritzbox be suitable for this? The box has 2 SMA connections. Or can someone recommend another (cheaper) LTE/GSM receiver that works for my purposes, because I don't need many of the functions that this Fritzbox has. As an LTE/GSM antenna, for example, this one could be considered: Delock LTE/HSPA/GSM antenna, 2x SMA connector (available at Digitec).

Good morning - unfortunately I can't really answer this question competently. But I would give the aerial a try. It's definitely worth the risk.

Hello weissabgleich78, the FritzBox is not a mobile / "amplifier / transmitter" You cannot connect your mobile phone to the FritzBoxh with GSM "LTE 5G", only via WLAN.
The Fritz Box is a very good device. Have a look at the campers on Youtube, you may find a solution there, there are also tests on external antennas.

The Fritzbox 6850 LTE is not an LTE repeater, but a mobile router that receives the LTE /4G signal and sets up its own WLAN. This requires a separate SIM card in the Fritzbox. A mobile that allows WLAN telephony must be used in the room in question. Whether the LTE signal from the external aerial to the Fritzbox in the room then receives sufficient reception depends on a number of factors: Antenna gain, location, cable length. In principle, the concept should work, but this cannot be conclusively answered without testing.
It would be much easier if you already have WLAN reception in your home or the room in question. Then the mobile phone must be integrated into the WLAN and the WLAN telephony function must be switched on in the mobile phone (which is only possible from iPhone 12/13, for example, and must also be enabled by the provider; with Swisscom this works perfectly with jns), then there is no need for outside reception, no antenna, no cables, no costs.
