Question about Marantz NR1510

Which speakers / loudspeakers do you use and which are compatible? The Marantz NR1510 only has 50 watts of power at 8 ohms. You can hardly find any speakers for it. An amplifier should always have MORE power than the connected speakers! We recommend 1.5 - 2 x more power. I have just destroyed my Denon AV receiver after about 10 years because I have been running 150 watt floorstanding speakers on two 100 W channels for 10 years. Both front channels are now dead as a doornail (burnt out). Sometimes there is still a small pip. That's it. Within about 2 weeks, both front channels have burnt out after more than 10 years of such use. All other channels are still working perfectly. I didn't realise that speakers that were too big would destroy the amplifier. Now the problem with the Marantz NR1510: It only delivers 50 watts at 8 ohms and supposedly 75 watts at 6 ohms. I can't find any decent speakers for it! The speakers would have to be SMALLER. So a maximum of approx. 30 - 40 watts for 8 ohms (preferred) or approx. 50 watts for 6 ohms. Speakers that small are all RAMSCH. Cheap speakers with soldered speaker cables or active speaker boxes for PCs. Most decent hi-fi speakers only start at around 75 - 100 watts. Hence the question: WHICH SPEAKERS are you using with your Marantz? Are you aware that speakers that are too big will overload the amplifier and significantly reduce its lifespan? I want decent speakers that can be connected with banana plugs.

EDIT: I have to correct myself! The amplifier is not broken! It's the speakers. Infinity speakers that have crumbled after about 20 years. The rubber rings around the speakers inside have crumbled. They have obviously used the wrong rubber compound or natural rubber. When the rubber in the speakers crumbles, the speakers soon scrape and then no more sound comes out. I thought the amplifier was broken, but now with new speakers everything works again!!! :-)

We hope that you will receive feedback from owners of this amplifier. Otherwise, you can also open a discussion in a suitable product category to increase the reach of your enquiry.

An amplifier that is too powerful can also destroy speakers in the long term, but can be better controlled by manually limiting the volume control.

If you are too limited in your choice, it may be advisable to consider a more powerful amplifier. You are also welcome to contact our customer service team for product advice.
