Take the Asus MB169B+, which has USB 3.0 type B and can be connected directly without an adapter.

The model with USB Type C connection works perfectly with the Surface Book via the supplied USB Type C to USB 3.0 adapter. Simply install the Windows drivers and the display is correctly recognised, so you are also prepared for the USB Type C future.
