Why was the SFP connector built into the Unifi 8port 150W switch if everyone buys this adapter to convert to RJ45? Besides, the port can only handle 1Gbit/s anyway, like the RJ45 cable. Can anyone tell me an advantage of connecting two such Unifi switches with fibre optic cable instead of RJ45 cable?

Helpful answer

Yes, e.g. as uplink ports for cross-building cabling, since fibre optics are potential-free, you don't have to worry about the earth.

especially to exceed the distance limit of 100m. Copper is limited to 100m, fibre (depending on SFP and fibre) 300m, 2km, 10km, 40km. As long as everything remains under 100m, see "Kuschicom"...
