as long as the device has a hdmi connection yes and usb you can also plug in a 5v power adapter, it only supplies power.

also wifi and bluetooth have to be turned on to ensure a successful connection (without bluetooth it doesn't always seem to work)

but you can connect to your own wifi at the same time, that's no problem.

a pure bluetooth connection (if there is one) would only work for relatively low resolutions (if at all).

even wifi is suboptimal depending on the application, e.g. for gaming i would recommend a tried and tested cable - but watching movies and simple work works great
