In principle, this should work if you have the right sanding machine. I would ask Caran d'Ache if they know any sanding partners or if they have replacement drums. Good luck

There is no difference as far as I can tell. I chose the silver one because I knew it that way.
I cannot confirm whether exactly this model works. A pencil with a diameter of approx. 9 mm can be sharpened perfectly with it.

There is an adjusting screw on the crank. Turn it clockwise until it stops. After that, the tip of the pin should be short and blunt... if not, maybe the lead of the pencils is too soft/crumbly - or something is wrong with the "machine... I am very happy with it :)
