Question about Philips Hue Lightstrips Base
I bought the set and was just about to connect it. Is it right that it should come on directly when there is power? Unfortunately, my strips do not come on at all after I have connected them. Do I need to pay attention to anything else or can I assume that it is defective?

I have a whole house full of HUE products and have never had a defect or a problem, but... in the case you describe, I would assume a defect.
Yes, the Lightstrips come on as soon as they are connected to the power supply. Only then can they be found by the Bridge. Very trivial, and I assume you have already done this: make sure that the socket is really supplying power (not a switched socket, for example). But if you can be sure that power is flowing but the LEDs do not come on, then either the light strip or the power supply unit or the transformer is defective.
