Officially, as far as I know (I'm happy to be proven wrong), no.
In reality, the power supply unit has a 12 volt output (direct current) - i.e. with a bit of tinkering and the appropriate knowledge, something could be done, e.g. with a lithium ion battery. with a lithium ion battery ... but whether it's worth it is another question - especially since on the one hand there may be more than just the current in the power supply (I don't know) - and on the other hand there are also other, cheaper LED strips with batteries (but not in the Hue system and probably not with the same function/quality of light).
On the other hand, the strip could certainly also be connected to a portable power station with a socket - e.g. from the camping sector - but these are usually not exactly cheap...
Unfortunately, this is not stated anywhere and for this reason we cannot answer this question.
Assumption: The cut is possible where the last group of 6 à 3 LEDs with the irregularly arranged electronic parts visible in between remains intact AS A GROUP/CIRCUIT.

So 1 does not work. Unbelievable but true, they forget the connector. I tried to remove the material from one of them, but no chance..... It worked with the old version and of course it works with an extension....
I cut the cable on one of them and then attached a longer one. Works too, but needs a bit of experience and material...

as i understand it, you can control hue with the elite, but unfortunately you need a bridge first. google "harmony elite hue lights" and click through the first hit.

No, unfortunately there is still no such thing. If you know a bit about electricity, you can try to solder the two LED strips together yourself after cutting them to size with additional cables. But then you can probably forget about the warranty and such.

No, this is not possible with the Hue lightstrips. The complete lightstrip always lights up in the same colour.

The secondary side of the transformer supplies 24V at max. 0.83A - the magnetic switch could be used - but for what purpose? If you want to light something like a cupboard or a chest, there are better and cheaper solutions that come with a contact switch (or motion detector).
The Lightstripe from Philips only works properly with the Bridge - without it, you can only switch it off by unplugging it; other settings are not even possible. The warranty would certainly expire if you had to cut the cable.

I have a whole house full of HUE products and have never had a defect or a problem, but... in the case you describe, I would assume a defect.
Yes, the Lightstrips come on as soon as they are connected to the power supply. Only then can they be found by the Bridge. Very trivial, and I assume you have already done this: make sure that the socket is really supplying power (not a switched socket, for example). But if you can be sure that power is flowing but the LEDs do not come on, then either the light strip or the power supply unit or the transformer is defective.

This is theoretically possible, but you need a power supply unit between the LED strip and the mains.
The power supply unit is needed to regulate the mains voltage from 230V to 24V (possibly also 12V, I'm not sure how much it needs).
You could, for example, have an extension cable connected directly to the mains and then place the power supply somewhere inconspicuous, e.g. at the edge, if this is possible.
Or you could get another, suitable, power supply unit that is smaller/decreaser. Make sure that you have the same voltage (Volt[V]) and the same or more current (Ampere[A]) as the original.

Yes, it works without any problems. I have been using it for a long time and it can be controlled via Bridge and App.
