Question about Philips Hue Lightstrips Base
Is the hue bridge mandatory? If not, which features are not available without the hue bridge?
Hello, yes you need the hub. I think it is noted in the description. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to get a hub or not, but I know there are versions of Hue bulbs that now have bluetooth functionality without a hub.

I can confirm that you need the bridge for the Lightstrips.
Some normal Hue bulbs (except BT version) can be used as stand-alone lights (only with a ZigBee remote - max 10 bulbs per remote).
The major difference with the BT version is that you only have the basic ON / OFF and +/- strong functions and therefore no other features of the Hue mobile app.
