A visit to the company-owned glass museum in Nuutajärvi inspires Matti Klenell to create this unique candle holder for the Finnish brand iittala: here a mysterious table design, there a trophy by Tapio Wirkkala or the foot of a glass bird by Oiva Toikka. Even the specially designed Lempi glasses inspire Matti Klenell: “A candle holder must have a reliable holder for the candle and a solid base to stand securely on the table and sideboard.” He addresses his functional requirements for a candle holder through distinctly rounded shapes in the design: While the Nappula candle holder features a heavy, closed “floating ring” with a cylindrical holder for the candle at varying heights, the optional candelabrum offered by iittala enchants with six chalices for candles arranged at different heights, all resting on a simple round ring as its base.
