ZigBee is only a radio standard! Only the manufacturer can clearly state whether devices are really functionally compatible. Reading the forums in advance can protect you from making a bad purchase. Or simply try it out ;) it's fun, but time-consuming and expensive.
It doesn't work for me with the radio components from DresdenElektronik. However, with the APP IFTTT and Flic, you could start programming yourself, but it's still rather tedious...
