Thomas was founded in 1903 by Fritz Thomas in Marketredwitz, Upper Franconia. In 1908, Rosenthal acquired the porcelain factory “F. Thomas, Marktredwitz.” In 1960, porcelain production was moved from the plant in Marketredwitz to the newly built “Thomas am Kulm” plant in Speichersdorf/Upper Franconia, whose facade was designed by Italian architect Marcello Morandini with geometric patterns.
