The actual housing is made of plastic. All other elements are made of metal. It is nevertheless very robust and makes uncorking a pleasure. It is not quite ideal for corks that are longer than average. It works, but in this case manual extraction may be necessary. It is also not ideal if the cork is very dry and crumbles easily. In this case, a classic corkscrew may be better.
