Mit dem guten Profil, der sehr weichen Gummimischung und der steiferen Karkasse ist Traktion im Überfluss vorhanden. Das macht ihn am Vorderrad zum Liebling der Tester. Rollt zäh.
After more than two years of development, the Maxxis Assegai is finally here! Greg Minnaar's signature tire embodies his 30 years of racing experience and Maxxis' expertise from over 50 years of tire production. "My idea was to design a tire using the best Maxxis profiles. I started in the middle with a combination of the Minion DHF and Minion DHR II. The reason for this was that the surface of the DHF rolls well and performs great on hardpack, in slippery corners, and on wet roots and rocks. The DHR II rolls much better and can brake more aggressively. Then I opted for an 'additional' knob that gives you more support and a consistent feel when you lean the bike into the corners on the outer knobs. This brings us to my favorite tire – the HighRoller. The Maxxis engineers and I reshaped the side knobs of the HighRoller to have pretty much the same characteristics as the original. But with the support of this additional knob, you have the ultimate wingman when you’re charging hard into flat corners. In the end, I took the knob height from the Shorty. The knobs are well supported, allowing the raised profile to grip in forest floors and dry, dusty terrain.".
