During the setting process, the rivet mandrel is pulled with the jaws of the setting device, deforming the hollow rivet until it is firmly seated in the component at a predefined position. Finally, the mandrel breaks off at the designated point, the predetermined breaking point, and the remaining mandrel can be sent for recycling.

The remaining mandrel is the part of the mandrel that stays in the hollow rivet and can take on an additional securing function depending on the application.
