FAQ:

  • What terminals can this tool be used with? This hand crimping tool is used for crimping DuraSeal splices with a wire size range from 22 to 10 AWG.
  • What kind of crimp is produced? This tool produces an open barrel style crimp.
  • How easy are they to use? They are very easy to use with either hand, and no formal training is required for this crimper.
  • How do you maintain the product? Movable parts should be regularly lubricated. Lubrication is recommended at least every 10,000 cycles or whenever the tool is exposed to contaminants.

The importance of a high-quality crimp:
When a crimping tool is used on a terminal, two crimps occur simultaneously. One is the electrical connection between the conductor and terminal, while the other is the insulation crimp that provides strain relief against vibration and tension. It is crucial that the electrical connection is gas-tight without any voids between the wire strands and the terminal. Any voids can lead to corrosion, causing resistance and excessive heat, which can damage the electrical connection. Using a high-quality crimping tool ensures a full, gas-tight crimp, preventing future deterioration of the electrical connection and insulation breakage.
