Tapered roller bearings have conical raceways in both the inner and outer rings, between which tapered rollers are arranged. The apexes of all conical surfaces meet at a common point on the bearing axis. Therefore, tapered roller bearings are particularly suitable for accommodating combined (radial and simultaneously axial) loads. Due to their internal design, single-row tapered roller bearings cannot be used alone, but only together with a second bearing or as a bearing pair.
