Is it possible to switch on the pedestrian mode on this device? I would like to use it additionally when, for example, I want to find a street on foot in an unknown city.

As far as I know, it is practically impossible to use the device outside the car. If the USB cable is disconnected, it switches off after a few seconds. I have tried to switch it on when the USB cable was removed. Suddenly I was on another continent :-) As a pedestrian, I always need my mobile phone. It also has offline maps for abroad, pedestrian mode, many useful apps...
