I bought my "current" solar digital scale in 1995 and it still works. And thanks to solar technology, I've never had to change batteries in all that time, because it doesn't have any. Will this one still work in 2045?

It's lucky that not all of our ancestors behaved like that and that there were some who used their curiosity to bring us forward. Of course, you could still cook on an open fire, but an induction cooker is a fine thing.
I'm on my 3rd charge of batteries after a good 4 years of use in a 3-person household.
