The following applies to the PS5: An external USB SSD is primarily intended for storing PS5 games and for playing PS4 games directly; PS5 games must be copied back to the internal memory if necessary. 1TB is enough if you only need a little extra space. 2 TB is the better compromise between price, convenience and reserve for most people. The main difference to the Samsung SSD T7 Shield is that the T7 Shield is also an external SSD, i.e. a fast USB storage device. For the PS5, the benefits are similar because both are used as external storage; for directly playable PS5 titles, however, you still need the console's internal storage. If you want more space and don't want to manage it all the time, I'd go for 2TB rather than 1TB.

This external hard drive is compatible with the PS5. It can store PS5 games, but these must be transferred to the PS5's internal drive in order to be played. PS4 games, on the other hand, can be played directly from the external hard drive. The drive is powered via the USB port and uses the USB 3.2 interface, which is compatible with the requirements of the PS5.

Yes, you can move videos and screenshots to the external hard drive. The hard drive serves as extended storage for your PlayStation, so you can save not only games but also other files such as videos and screenshots on it. However, PS5 games can only be played on the internal SSD, while PS4 games can be launched directly from the external hard drive.

Hello Yes you can also back up games to it and PS4 games can even be played directly from the hard drive without having to load them onto the console. Only the PS5 games have to be downloaded first and then you can play them. I did it with my PS5 so that I have all PS4 games on the hard drive and the PS5 games are stored on an internal SSD hard drive. Greetings

HDD These data relevant to you are not given because even the manufacturer does not specify them. What should Digitec write then? https://www.seagate.com/de... https://www.seagate.com/www-conten... There are reasons why they are not given and Seagate is not the only manufacturer. Hardly anyone actually does this with external hard drives. If the manufacturer does not give exact technical specifications, he is very flexible in the HD he installs in the housing. So he can always take what is currently available and cheap.

Seagate are advertising it now as compatible with both PS4 & PS5 but there are some stories around that some external PS4 drives are not functioning 100% on the PS5.. As soon as I can actually get hold of a PS5 I will update..

According to the manufacturer and the seller, the Game Drive should be compatible with the PS5. p.s.: I use the Game Drive myself and am curious to see how well it works with the PS5.
