The Tamaron is a very good all-rounder. However, if you want to shoot macro, you won't be very happy with the Tamaron and I would recommend keeping the kit lens. However, if you shoot more portraits or landscapes, the Tamaron is actually fine. Since the Tamaron is not a Canon lens, I think it's not perfectly compatible with the camera and it's a good idea to switch to manual mode to get the best pictures. However, the image quality is not bad even in automatic mode, provided the Tamaron gets enough light. For this price, however, you are certainly getting the best that is currently available on the market and some more expensive products cannot produce better images. I can only recommend the Tamaron. I bought the lens just under a year ago and fortunately I didn't have to make a warranty claim. I am completely satisfied with the lens and wouldn't give it away.
