I haven't had the device for very long and have it in a cover - so no scratches yet. However, from my experience with other readers, I would recommend a cover. Once a scratch is in it, it can be very annoying, depending on the location and the light.

It always stays where I left off. However, what happened to me at the beginning was that I tapped on the back of the Tolino while gripping it, which caused me to turn a few pages. Try to keep an eye on it and see if that happens to you too ;-)
