A USB device is normally charged at 5 volts and 1-2.4 amps, which is usually not much more than 10 watts. With Quick Charge, however, the charging process is up to 75 per cent faster - according to the manufacturer. Normally, as described above, a smartphone is charged with a voltage of 5 volts and a current of 1-2.4 amps. If you multiply the numbers, you get a maximum wattage of 12 watts.Quick Charge 1.0 was still limited to 5 volts and 2 amps. This is how fast you can charge via USB without the standard. With Quick Charge 2.0, Qualcomm has gone one better: up to 3 amps and 12 volts are possible. Most current chargers seem to be limited to just under 2 amps at 9 volts and are thus around 15-18 watts. The new Samsung Galaxy models also support Quick Charge 2.0. Samsung has licensed the technology, but calls it something else: Adaptive Fast Charging. However, you can also use Quick Charge chargers from third-party manufacturers for fast charging.
