The new Sony camera delivers high-quality film recordings and appealing 26-megapixel photos. Its overall equipment is clearly focussed on video recording, and photographers will clearly notice this at some points. They will therefore have to think twice about whether such a camera is really worth buying for this price...

However, the selection is limited and you have to be prepared to go back one or two model generations and look around for cameras, some of which were launched in 2019. The ZV-E10 is the most affordable system camera from Sony and is fully focussed on video, where it scores with great picture and sound, long recording times and additional functions such as portrait format video, microphone connection or the option to record in log format. The ZV-E10 also delivers great quality photos if you can do without a viewfinder and flash.

The ZV-E10 is not the first choice for photographers, although its photo functions are certainly impressive. But the lack of a viewfinder is likely to put many prospective customers off - they should perhaps look at an Alpha from the 6000 series instead. For all vloggers or video producers, however, the camera is ideally suited...

High-quality videos are also no problem for the Alpha 6600 and Alpha 6700. The Alpha 6700 even manages slow-motion videos at 120 frames per second in 4K. However, if you are looking for a camera that specialises in video recording, the Sony ZV series is the right choice.
