Question about ASUS Rog Strix Z370-F

Compatibility question: I have put together and installed a hi-end system. The Asus Rog Strix Z370-F Gaming motherboard runs perfectly with the onboard graphics card. However, as soon as the Asus Geforce GTX 1070 Ti graphics card is mounted on the designated slot (PCIe 16), the system no longer responds. Only the RGB lights on the motherboard still light up. No fan and therefore no power makes booting impossible, simply dead. The graphics card has now been replaced by Digitec, unfortunately without success. Either there is a compatibility problem or the motherboard is defective. The latter seems to me to be the most likely, as I seem to have received a return. (Opened packaging) How should I proceed now?

Stupid question, but you have already plugged in the additional connector on the Geforce and it has power? And what does the LED debug code or beeper code on the mainboard say? There are usually instructions in the very back of the manual about what the lights / beeps mean...
