To use a hard drive as external storage under Windows, you normally do not need to install any software as most Ugreen hard drive enclosures are plug-and-play capable. You can connect the hard drive directly to your computer and it should be recognised.

To format a hard drive, you can use the built-in Windows tools, such as Disk Management. To do this, go to "Manage computer" > "Hard drive management", select the hard drive and format it using the corresponding menu.
