Does anything light up on the station when the iPhone and watch are charging? (The description says that it lights up for the headphones, but nothing about whether there is a light elsewhere. That would really bother me at night)...

Yes, when you charge AirPods on the charging surface, a blinding white LED lights up. Unbearable at night!
