I would like to connect the AppleTV 128 GB streamer to my older Philips TV (4K) and then ONLY have to use 1 remote control; i.e. when the power connection is activated, I would also like to be able to switch the TV on and off with the Apple remote control. I also don't want to have to use the original TV remote control to control the volume, e.g. for Netflix. Is this possible with the Apple TV 128 GB? Thank you for your feedback Dani

Helpful answer

Yes, it is possible to connect the Apple TV 128GB (3rd Generation) to your older Philips 4K TV and control many functions with the Apple remote control.

Here are the relevant details:
- The Siri Remote of the Apple TV 4K (3rd Generation) has Bluetooth 5.0 and an IR transmitter, which makes it possible to control the TV as well as the receiver via IR or CEC (Consumer Electronics Control).
- You can use the Apple remote control to switch the TV on and off and adjust the volume, provided that your Philips TV supports CEC or IR functions.
- The Apple remote control also offers intuitive control for volume and other TV functions, making it unnecessary to use the original TV remote control.

Make sure CEC is enabled on your Philips TV to fully utilise these functions.
