I currently own a Fenix 3. Is it worth upgrading to a Fenix 5x and do I have any other (crucial) advantages apart from the map and navigation functions?

I used to own a Fenix3 and now a Fenix 5x. And I have to say, it's definitely worth it. The 5x is brutal! Map material, heart rate monitor on the wrist, fast etc.... It was definitely my best purchase. Expensive but worth it.

The upgrade to the 5X is worth it. I've often been grateful for the map material when I've been off-road. Upgrading to the 5 or 5S is not worth it in my opinion.

Not that I know of. I have a Fenix 2 and I'm still waiting to upgrade. The stuff just gets cheaper...

I bought the x5. And I have to say the thing is ingenious! Clean workmanship, all the functions you need are there. What I do know about the 3 version is the map/navi function, heart rate monitor integrated into the wrist/the watch and easy changing of the straps. So I would buy the watch again immediately, even if it is rather expensive.
