The device is delivered with version 4.4, but will an update to 5.x be available afterwards?

I have not received an update yet. I have had the device since may 2015.

I had the "device" too, but I wouldn't recommend it. The RAM (all programmes closed) is always 1GB full, and I think that's why I often had stalling problems. Better treat yourself to a Huawei Mate or a Moto X Play.
