Under Specification it says Android version "4.4 KitKat". Is this version automatically updated on the device after purchase (e.g. to 6.x Lollipop)? I know an owner who had this happen

When setting up the device, you are asked to make/confirm software updates. The device was originally delivered with 4.4 KitKat, but it can now be updated to 6.0.1 Marshmallow without any problems or additional effort.
