I can't answer whether you are legally allowed to do this. My wife uses it on an e-bike (25 km/h) without any problems. I recommend checking that the bike has a proper luggage rack that can withstand something, not one with thin, small bars that bend under the weight. There are sometimes big differences!

Unfortunately no, the product is not compatible with the width of the Stromer luggage rack tubes. I had bought this seat with this in mind before realising it when it was fitted. What's more, the seat isn't suspended, which makes it extremely uncomfortable for a child on a speedelec.

This seat is designed to clamp a luggage rack using the grey knob. A quick release is provided via the lock which can lock the attachment or release it by pressure. For a quick change of bike, it's best to opt for the seat on bars version and buy an additional bracket to fit the 2nd bike, so you can change quickly without risking your safety.

There are two versions, one rack-mounted seat and one frame-mounted seat. This is the rack-mounted version. It includes a winding mechanism that grips the rack; the mechanism can be locked using the included key and unlocked to remove/adjust. The plastic strap is additionally fastened around the seat post for safety. Please note that your rack must be at least 11cm wide. This is the minimum width so any wider than 11cm is better. (I didn't see this mentioned anywhere when ordering, and -- of course -- my rack is only 10cm so I can't attach the seat without needing to replace the entire rack).

I have mounted the part directly on the luggage rack, it doesn't need any other adapters or anything similar. There are clips on the child seat that cling to the carrier. It holds very well, I've been travelling with it for 2 weeks and I'm very happy (and so is my child) :) There is probably a second version of this seat, which is designed to be attached to the frame. But it has a different order number. Probably this one: Thule Yepp 2 Maxi (rear frame mount)
