Our proprietary design features a slightly less ovalized ring (10%) with less aggressive timing (112°) than the competitors' versions. The ovality of the chainring is hardly noticeable, yet it provides the POWER and TRACTION benefits characteristic of oval chainrings.

The new Shimano XTR, XT, and SLX 12-speed Hyperglide+ chains operate differently than Shimano's old 11-speed products. Therefore, the Wolf Tooth engineers developed an entirely new tooth profile to ensure optimal chain engagement and durability when using this new chain technology. The new HG+ chain interacts quite differently with the chainring compared to a traditional Wide/Narrow design. Wolf Tooth engineers spent considerable time understanding how the system works and designing a new tooth profile optimized for this chain.

The specially designed tooth profile ensures the smooth operation of an HG+ drivetrain with the legendary chain retention of Wolf Tooth. It prevents premature wear of the chainring and chains that can occur due to a non-optimized profile.
