Our proprietary design features a slightly less ovalized ring (10%) with less aggressive timing (112°) than the competition's versions. The ovality of the chainring is barely noticeable, yet it provides the POWER and TRACTION benefits characteristic of oval chainrings.

The new Shimano XTR, XT, and SLX 12-speed Hyperglide+ chains work differently than Shimano's old 11-speed products. Therefore, Wolf Tooth engineers developed a completely new tooth profile to ensure optimal chain retention and durability when using this new chain technology. The new HG+ chain interacts quite differently with the chainring than a traditional Wide/Narrow design. Wolf Tooth engineers spent considerable time understanding how the system works and designing a new tooth profile optimized for this chain.

The specially designed tooth profile ensures the smooth operation of an HG+ drivetrain with the legendary chain retention of Wolf Tooth and prevents premature wear of the chainring and chains that can occur from a non-optimized profile.
