Hello Yvonne, there are extra accessories that have to be ordered with the carrier. The carrier alone does not work. I looked in the description of the accessories to find out which accessory set fits my Fiat Freemont best. I even asked in garages, but nobody knew ;o). I chose a car that looks similar to mine and ordered it. I don't regret it, it can be tightened with screws and we drove with the bikes all the way to Holland from Switzerland!
