I have used the Thule myself on a Touran and it worked perfectly.
We have mounted the aforementioned thule backpac 973 on a Touran III. 2010 - 2015.
A word of advice, ask a VW dealer as there are small variations that can change the adaptability. Or the Thule website is a good place to find out about a model's compatibility.
