The D fuse system is a screw-type fuse system of the first generation. It is still widely used in installations. The D fuse system is used in low voltage installations where the fuse-links are accessible to and can be replaced by laymen. The D fuse range includes sizes NDZ, DII, DIII, DIV, and DV. D fuse-links are used for the protection of lines and installations. They safely switch off impermissible overcurrents and short-circuit currents up to the rated breaking current. D fuse links of utilization class gG also protect electrical equipment and installations against the electrodynamic effects of high short-circuit currents.
