This line locator works acoustically and offers a fast and inexpensive solution to find voltage-free lines in the house installation, to test telephone lines, to identify individual cables/wires or also
to carry out a continuity test. The transmitter/sound generator modulates a carrier signal onto an electrical conductor, which you can follow with the receiver/amplifier and the integrated loudspeaker or via a headphone connection. A rotary dial on the receiver also allows you to adjust the sensitivity for the best possible indentification. When connected to a phone jack via the RJ-11 connector, the transmitter's LED indicates the status of the active phone line between "free", "busy" or "ringing". In addition, the transmitter has a continuity check, which causes the LED to light brightly when continuity is detected and to dim when resistance is increased.
