Yes, it should be possible to set it up as a kind of baby monitor. The camera is very good and has a lot of functions, including a microphone and speaker. I use it with various Aqara sensors and Apple HomeKit. In addition, there are many other functions in the Aqara app to control the whole thing and set up workflows. Among other things, there is also a function in which you can set up noise detection and send messages in addition to movements. I do not use this noise detection myself.

I have exactly the same problem. Should have been fixed with the last update.... But unfortunately it hasn't. The integration in Homekit is also not good. When I pan the camera it detects movement and then sounds the lights throughout the house. That makes no sense!

Yes, it has night vision and can be configured to detect motion. If you want to use it with Apple HomeKit, you need an Apple device that can act as a HomeKit hub.

The Aqara G3 will connect to a server outside China unless you buy it from Alibaba or another Chinese source. You have the option of inserting an SD card to record locally. If you bind it to Homekit, then the recording will also be stored in your icloud account storage, but there is no obligation to bind the camera to Homekit, you can just use the Aqara app, which is very good. Processing is local, at least that's what Aqara claims. Hopefully that helps. Translated with https://www.deepl.com/Translator (free version)

Hello, the Camera Hub G2 Pro is the latest product of the Aqara camera line, but it is "only" version 2.5. The Camera Hub G3 can still do more than the Camera Hub G2 Pro, is also a bit bigger and has a different shape. A major advantage of the G3 is 2K video instead of Full HD on the G2 Pro. In addition, you can swivel the camera head of the G3 360 degrees via the app and also adjust the height. It's probably best to compare the three models here at the manufacturer's website https://www.aqara.com/en... and click on "Camera".
