Instantly recognisable by their black and white fur, raccoons are natural predators in many ways. Their silver-grey coat is speckled with black, providing great nocturnal camouflage for this nocturnal omnivore. Raccoons vary greatly in size. They can range in weight from 4 lbs. to 20 lbs. although specimens weighing up to 40 lbs. are not unheard of. With their long, banded tails, they typically measure between 23 and 38 inches long.
