Profile height 2.5 mm. Precisely engraved wooden sleepers. Slim full-profile rails. The area of 470 x 61.88 mm forms the basis for the geometry of the PIKO A track. These dimensions were not chosen randomly; they are the result of precise studies calculated on high-performance CAD systems, meeting the demands of both hobbyists and model railroaders alike. In this grid, almost all track formations can be represented very easily without the need for small spacer pieces: elegant branches in straight or curved sections, various parallel track distances with the possibility of incorporating existing accessories like platforms, etc. The simple grid makes complicated track templates unnecessary. Even with just a simple piece of graph paper, track formations can be drawn, and the required amount of track elements can be determined.

The track geometry: The special feature of the PIKO A track geometry is that it requires very few track elements, and the model railroader does not need to install spacers at switches or crossings, which can always lead to an unstable operation of the model train. The module length of 470 mm is divided into two differently long tracks of 231 mm and 239 mm in the straight section. This is the secret to being able to run parallel tracks over two switches without spacers.

The tracks: The PIKO A track profile is made from a high-quality nickel-silver alloy and is a full-profile track with ideal electrical conductivity even over long distances. The spring steel rail connectors ensure a permanent and firm hold and guarantee good electrical contact at the rail joints. The sleepers are made from high-quality ABS plastic, which is particularly characterized by high impact resistance, good sound insulation, and resistance to stress cracking.
