I ordered this product because it was recommended by my dentist. But, it seems that this toothbrush has problems of programmed obsolescence, has anyone had the same problems? should I extend the warranty?

I actually had a SoniCare FlexCare which failed overnight. After dismantling it because it was out of warranty, it was filled with toothpaste and a bit of water too... I bought a new DiamondClean and made the effort to wipe the motor shaft after each tooth cleaning to avoid this. I also took the extended warranty to 5 years (the other one failed after 2.5 years). Otherwise I am happy with it and so is my hygienist...
