The Hamburg-based online retailer Galaxus is investing in the further development of its logistics and service capacities.In order to take the next step towards growth, the North German start-up has hired Robert Brohl, who will take on the role of Head of Operations with immediate effect. The 34-year-old is responsible for all logistics services and will drive forward the development and expansion of customer service in Germany. "I am very much looking forward to helping to shape order fulfilment at Galaxus Deutschland from the ground up so that the ambitious growth targets can become a reality," says the Essen native. "The first step will be to bring customer service for Germany from the Swiss headquarters to Krefeld and thus even closer to the needs of the German market."
The logistics expert with a doctorate comes to Galaxus from the management consultancy McKinsey & Company, where he most recently worked as an engagement manager and supply chain specialist. Before that, he researched the optimisation of logistics networks at the Institute for Transport Logistics at TU Dortmund University. "In Robert Brohl, we have gained a proven logistics expert as a team leader for our team," says Managing Director Frank Hasselmann. He is optimistic about the future: "Robert complements our expertise perfectly. As a team, we are now very well positioned for further growth phases."
Robert Brohl's activities will focus on the logistics site in Krefeld in North Rhine-Westphalia. Galaxus operates a 5,500 square metre warehouse there as the hub of the online retailer's logistics operations. Here, 10,000 products are stored, all of which can be delivered within 24 hours. In addition to logistics, all returns are processed in Krefeld. With the relocation of customer service for the German market from the Galaxus headquarters in Zurich to Krefeld, all operational functions will be brought together under one roof and more closely interlinked.
The online department stores' Galaxus has been operating in Galaxus Deutschland since the end of 2018 as a subsidiary of Switzerland's largest online retailer, Digitec Galaxus AG. Galaxus is more than just a webshop, but also a Community and magazine. "With test reports and honestly researched product ratings, we help our customers to find the right products for them," explains Managing Director Frank Hasselmann. Galaxus Deutschland started out with a range of IT, consumer electronics and telecommunications products. The shop now also sells kitchen, household and toy products and is aiming for an even wider range of products. "The response to the Galaxus Deutschland concept has been great and consistently positive. As a result, our range and the number of orders are growing rapidly. Now we need experts to drive the Galaxus vision forward," says Frank Hasselmann. In Krefeld, Galaxus is particularly looking for additional logistics specialists.
