Say goodbye to excuses - stay warm while running in winter with these tops

Even when it's cold - running outdoors can be fun. As long as you're dressed properly. Here are my five favourite tops for running in winter.

I need to get out into the fresh air. Always. Even when it's cold. Otherwise I don't feel well. Winter running gets my circulation going and my happiness hormones flowing. And if I don't mothball my running shoes in the cold months, I can also get off to a better start in spring.

After I've already introduced you to my favourite running tights, here are my favourites for above.

The durable evergreen

It looks unassuming, but has become an indispensable part of my sports wardrobe: the long-sleeved shirt from Merino & More. To be honest, I can't remember how many years I've owned it and how many machine washes it has survived. But the shirt is still warm and feels soft and cosy.

Cosy hoody for extra warmth

Another top whose quality has won me over: the Ortovox Fleece Light Hoody has also been with me for years. It offers a good mix of warmth and temperature regulation and feels very comfortable when running - I almost don't feel it. In fact, at first it was almost too much of a shame for running because it looks so classy, but now it's practically always my first choice.

Baselayer made from merino

I didn't even know the brand Kaikialla until recently. But ever since I bought my first merino long-sleeved shirt, it has been one of my favourites. The shirt is great for running, but also for hiking or as a base layer for winter walks. I can't say much about its durability yet, but at least it has survived the first few washes well.

Running waistcoat for cold days

My favourite pieces for running include several from Karpos. For example, a thin merino hoody and a fleece jacket that I've been wearing for so long that we no longer have it in our range. Another favourite item is the running waistcoat, which is lined with waffle fleece on the inside. It provides warmth exactly where I need it, i.e. on my chest, stomach and back. I like to combine it with the long-sleeved shirt from Merino & More and am therefore well dressed in moderate temperatures in the single-digit plus range.

Rain jacket against wind and moisture

Sometimes it's not so much the cold, but the wind and humidity that get to me. That's why a lightweight rain jacket is part of my winter running wardrobe. I usually take it off after the first few kilometres when I've warmed up, but it helps immensely at the start. Unfortunately, the model I like to wear is no longer available. But this one comes pretty close.

Of course, there is a whole range of other tops that warm your heart and muscles while running. For example, the cross-country running shirt from Daehlie, which I now use for jogging. So if you haven't found what you're looking for in my selection, take a look at our range.
